For Sally

Season Spring/Summer
Year 2021

I learned to knit as a child, taught by my mother. My stitches were always tight, hers loose, and together they formed wavy patterns — an accidental collaboration of tension and rhythm. That memory shaped this collection, where wavy knits meet deconstructed fashion elements and 1980s-inspired handicrafts, brought to life with surplus yarns, pleather, and recycled materials.

My childhood home was never without the American TV series The Bold and the Beautiful. I would knit while daydreaming about becoming a fashion designer like Sally Spectra — the dazzling, larger-than-life character who reminded me so much of my mother. This collection is my tribute to both women: my wonderful mom and the ever-shining Sally, whose spirit continues to inspire.

In honour of the “good old days” of runway traditions, I chose to close the collection with a crocheted wedding gown — a nostalgic nod to finales where the bride took the spotlight. The collection was selected as a finalist at the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories in Hyères, highlighting its resonance within contemporary fashion discourse.
